Zernike Phase Rings

Zernike phase rings are used for phase contrast imaging along with our zone plates to achieve high resolution, high-contrast imaging of biological and other samples. Rings of varying materials, thickness and diameters are available custom-made for your application.

Custom Designs

Custom designs with multiple phase rings on a single membrane can be made to test different parameters.


Phase rings can be fabricated on various ultra-thin membranes of silicon nitride, silicon carbide, and silicon from 50 nm to 1 µm in thickness for soft to hard X-rays.

Chip Sizes

Custom chip sizes can be made. Our typical substrate size is 5 mm x 5 mm, but custom sizing is possible.
